Everyday Activity
Synopsis
When I was given the brief of "Everyday Activity" lots of things came to mind, Firstly I felt like i should rule out the obvious ones
i.e. "making a cup of tea" or "brushing my teeth", I then began to think about things that i personally do every day, this made me immediately think of "Technology" and once I had that in my mind there was no stopping it.

Research & Inspiration
I didn’t really use any films for my inspiration but more adverts, I have always been a perfectionist and really enjoyed the Design
adverts that Apple bring out for their products, very clean cut close-up images that complement the music well. I didn’t want purely close up shots and as I didn’t have a 50mm lens to hand I had to use a 55-300mm lens at f5 to gain a shallow depth of field. I also really like the mix between using time lapsed footage and standard speed as I think it gives the viewer something more to concentrate on as the speed varies.

As seen in this video everything is very clean and well presented, I wanted to mix that feeling with the rustic feel of what people do every day, the film is also made to make people think about how much they use technology every day and in how many different ways. Also after recently watching the Netflix series 'Black Mirror' I thought a lot about technology and how it impacts people’s life.
After watching this series I thought a lot about the impacts of technology and what it is doing to peoples lives, and even though my film does not have any dialog I think it still gives meaning to the "Everyday Activity"

Evaluation
Technology is a massive part of my life and many other and I know it is an ever growing thing that will be a necessity to people’s day to day lives, this film was to show how this can happen and to make people think how much they are using technology every day.
I do not think that this film is how I imagined it but I know that I am definitely going to re make a similar film as I have so much more I can incorporate into it. I also learnt a lot when making this film, even with a small room like the one I was working in there are many components and things to constantly look out for, especially if I want to keep the continuity in the film as I did, it was a tricky task which had me reviewing footage quite a few times to make sure that certain items were back in the same place as in the last shots.
I didn’t leave myself a lot of time after filming for the editing stage which I now regret as I did not realise at the time the colour different and warmth using two different cameras, one of the shots you can see a very warm light and in one of the others it looks very cold and un saturated, if I had left myself more time I could have worked on this and maybe used a bit of colour correction, but my main problem seemed to lie in the white balance of the cameras. I used the DJI Osmo for a few of the shots which is customizable but not as much as my DSLR as it doesn’t have any interchangeable lens or focus so it made it a little tricky for some shots but also made other shots that would otherwise be very hard with a DSLR very easy.
I found that my pre-production was very successful which made the filming stage much easier, working with my actor to get the shots I needed with ease, also I found that filming things as I wish to edit them made the editing stage a lot easier such as cutting roughly when I wanted it to be in the film worked when it came to editing.
Overall I am pleased with my film and the outcome, if I were to do it again I would work with the colour a lot more making sure all of the shots were fairly similar in colour and temperature. I think this was a very interesting brief as it let me experiment with new styles and ideas.
